Hey Mama
Being gentle with yourself through ups and downs
Hey Mama is a series of guided conversations on motherhood for English-speaking mothers who have recently given birth.
The transition to motherhood is an intensive period in every mother’s life: powerful emotions, intense learning, a lot of uncertainty, all mixed up with tiredness.
Hey Mama groups are a safe space to reflect on your experiences, share and ask what matters to you right now, and connect with other mothers. Sometimes, this is all you need to feel yourself again.
Organised in collaboration with a perinatal psychologist Katrien De Wilde and Fleurentine midwife practice, with financial support from PANGG 0-18.

Practicalities
The language of the conversation series is English.
The conversations take place at the Fleurentine midwife practice, Burgemeester Woutersstraat 28, 2600 Berchem (location on the map).
Once you sign up for a group, you are encouraged to attend all the sessions of the group.
A small group of 4 to 8 women (with or without babies).
What to expect?
A safe space. Moment for reflection. Warm and friendly vibes. A chance to connect.
This is what these groups of motherhood conversations are about.
The transition to motherhood can be emotionally and physically demanding. A lot of strong emotions. A lot of changes. Many new things to learn. About yourself, your baby, your partners. Sometimes these changes run deep and make us wonder what happened to the self that we knew just a few months ago.
During each of the sessions, we take time to reflect and share about a topic related to motherhood experience:
How do you feel as a mother? How does it compare to the image of life as a mother before giving birth?
How do you feel in your body?
How do you feel right now? What is important for you to feel good?
What emotions have surprised you since becoming a mother?
These are just a few examples of the kinds of questions that we talk about during these group conversations.
Sometimes having the space to take time for yourself and reflect is all you need to feel you again.
Who is this for?
For English-speaking women who have given birth in the 12 months.
The babies are welcome to join.
